The kit is designed for isolating bacterial DNA from food samples, including enrichments, avulsions, and swabs. In samples with very low microbial activity (e.g., heat-pasteurized egg white powder), contamination with non-viable or non-culturable bacterial cells might be observed. Under different conditions, these samples exhibit rapid metabolization of the cells.
